Experimentation with Light!

It's that time of year again! The lights are up, and I just had to take more photos at the Chatfield Botanic Gardens again! I'm waiting on the photos I took with Chris' camera, but here are some from my own camera.

My daughter took the photo below. She opened up her aperture to 1.8 so she could get some beautiful bokeh images. There are silhouettes of plants/leaves can be seen inside of the bokeh.

I took some photos of everyone with bokeh in the background by using a prime lens and opening up the aperture to 1.8. The down side, and most difficult part, was that I couldn't see to focus, and neither could the camera.
I created a few bokeh images here and there. To create bokeh, remember to use a prime or Lensbaby, and open your aperture up to 1.8 or 2.8. Set the focus on your lens to manual, and then manually focus so that it's actually not in focus at all.

We also created some light writing and illuminations images. To create light writing and illumination images, see the Shutter Speed Lessons on my class website: www.coloradoartclass.weebly.com.

I hope you take advantage of the wonderful lighting this time of year! Get out there and experiment! Bokeh! Light writing! Illuminations!
